Summer is here, and that means more Americans are planning their summer vacations. However, travel can be quite uncomfortable, especially if you are on long-haul flights and dealing with jetlag.

To prevent exhaustion and to ensure you enjoy your trip as much as possible, here are some great tips on how to stay comfortable when traveling this summer!

Always sleep the night before
This is one of the most important steps to follow when traveling but is often easier said than done. Aim for at least seven to nine hours of sleep per night, which is what is generally recommended by doctors, to feel the most rested for the long travel day ahead. If you have problems getting to sleep, consider investing in a lavender scented heat wrap as both the heat and calming lavender will soothe you to sleep.

Wear comfortable clothes
Remember, you’ll be traveling in an airport, not having a fashion show. Make sure to wear as comfortable of clothes as possible so you can easily adjust to small seats and cramped spaces. A sweater/sweatshirt, cotton pants, and a loose fitting shirt are great staples any traveler should have.

Bring your bedroom with you
Don’t be afraid to bring pillows and heated shoulder wraps with you on the plane. As long as they don’t interfere with other passengers, make sure to bring them along to have the most comfortable flight — especially if you are traveling during the night! Consider even bringing along a microwavable shoulder heat wrap and ask one of your flight attendants to warm it for you.

Keep your valuables on you at all times
It can be nerve-wracking to go asleep on public travel when you have valuable belongings with you. To cut down on anxiety and nerves, invest in a wallet that goes around your neck to put money and other small jewelry in.

Stay hydrated
It is crucial to hydrate as much as possible when you are flying as the air is incredibly drying on an airplane. If you are thirsty it is too late, so make sure to keep a bottle of water around you at all times. This is also applicable if you have a heated neck pillow as the temperature while relaxing, can cause you to feel thirstier than normal.

With these tips in mind, you’ll be able to be as comfortable as possible while traveling. All you need is to grab your lavender scented heat wrap and you’ll be all set!
